Independent review of the ICT reform program released
Today I am pleased to release the findings of an independent review of the Australian Government’s ICT Reform Program. The review was undertaken by Dr Ian Reinecke, former head of the National E-Health Transition Authority, member of the Government 2.0 Taskforce and an experienced advisor to Australian Governments on ICT projects.
The former Minister for Finance and Deregulation asked Dr Reinecke to look at how well the Australian Government had implemented the reforms recommended by Sir Peter Gershon in his 2008 Review of the Australian Government’s use of ICT. Dr Reinecke was also asked to look at the future role of the Australian Government Information Management Office.
In his report, Dr Reinecke points to the very substantial efforts made by all Australian Government agencies to implement the ICT Reform Program. He notes that the Government is well positioned to embark upon the next phase in the evolution of ICT policy and practice. He found that AGIMO has done the heavy lifting in implementing the Gershon Report.
I look forward to working with my ministerial colleagues to further build upon the progress of the past two years. The Government will respond to the report in due course. I encourage you to read Dr Reinecke’s report and share your views on his findings and recommendations.
